The other day, a friend and I were discussing Miley Cyrus’ antics. We both agreed that the kid must be stopped. Not only does she seem out of control, but she is also a terrible example for teenagers and young female adults.
I really like what Arielle Newton has to say about her performance at the 2013 VMAs in her article: It’s not so much Cyrus’ fault as it is our own as a society. This sentence, in particular, sums up the issue very well:
Rather than simply bashing Miley for her absurd antics, maybe we should remember the context of her performance. And then we should change that context so it never, ever happens again.
